GENERAL MOTORS T.B.I. FUEL LINE INFORMATION

Overview

I decided that I liked the way that a lot of the older cars looked with the stainless steel braided fuel line, and the red and blue aluminum fittings.  So, I figured I could just call Summit, and get replacement fuel lines and fittings to switch over.

Well, I could NOT be more wrong.  It was not even close to that easy.  I had to call a lot of places, and visit a few local dealers just to figure out what the hell threads everything was.  Then, it was just a matter of finding out where to get the correct fittings, etc.

So, here is a small article on what to look for when replacing your fuel lines on a T.B.I. equipped car.  By the way...I am pretty sure that most of this, if not all, applies to T.P.I. as well, and probably a few other GM fuel injection systems.

For the part numbers of all of the fittings and everything that I used, check the "fuel lines" link under the "mods heading at right.

Here are some pictures you will hopefully find useful if you decide to do this mod to your car:

This picture is a drawing I did using AutoCAD 2000.  It is a diagram of the parts used to convert the regular old rubber and metal lines to the braided stainless steel lines.  It shows the thread sizes, as well as descriptions of most parts.
